AN INTRODUCTION TO Randy
We are honored to welcome a new collection from longtime Sisters artist Randy Redfield for our June and July Artist Exhibition at The Barn.
For many in Central Oregon, Randy's work needs little introduction. A fifth-generation Oregonian and Sisters resident since 1979, he has spent decades creating art that reflects the landscapes, colors, and spirit of the West. His paintings carry a deep sense of place, shaped by a lifetime of observing and living within the region he calls home.
Randy studied painting at both Portland State University and the University of Oregon, where he worked with renowned artists Frank Okada, LaVerne Krause, and Ralph Baker. After completing his studies, he established a studio in downtown Portland and quickly gained recognition, including selection for the prestigious Artists of Oregon painting and sculpture exhibition at the Portland Art Museum in 1975.

His artistic journey later took him abroad, where he traveled through Europe and spent time living and working in Guadalajara, Mexico. Returning to Oregon, Randy eventually settled in Central Oregon, building both a home and studio where he has continued creating for decades.
Many locals also know Randy through Kibak Tile, the distinctive line of handcrafted tiles and vessels he produced for many years. Those pieces became widely collected throughout the region and remain an important part of his artistic legacy. In later years, Randy returned his focus to painting, creating works on canvas and large-format wood panels that have been exhibited in galleries throughout Bend and beyond. In 2013, he was selected by the Oregon Arts Commission for a solo exhibition at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem.
One of our favorite moments during the installation of this exhibit was watching it become a true family affair. Family members joined in to help hang the collection, sharing stories and memories along the way. It was a reminder that behind every artist is a community of people who have supported, encouraged, and helped shape the creative journey.
Randy and his family have deep roots in Sisters. His wife, Susanne, runs Kibak Tile alongside their daughter, Carli, while sons Ryder and Stefan also call the area home. That connection to place and community is evident throughout his work.

As Randy shared with us:
"Sisters is home to wonderful artists, galleries, musicians, restaurants, and collectors. It is a thriving arts community, and I am grateful to be part of its growing creative reputation."
We couldn't agree more.
We invite you to stop by The Barn throughout June and July to experience Randy's work for yourself. Grab a drink, take a walk through the gallery, and spend some time with the work of one of Sisters' most beloved artists. You'll also have opportunities to meet Randy in person during upcoming artist meet-and-greet events. More details on those gatherings will be announced soon.
We are grateful to share his work with our community and look forward to celebrating this exhibition all summer long.
